May 2020 Word of the Month

May 2020

In Exodus 15:16, God is speaking to Moses and the Children of Israel as they were wandering in the wilderness, and He makes an astounding statement to them. “…If you will diligently hearken to the Voice of the LORD your God, and will do that which is right in His sight, and will give ear to His Commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put (or allow) none of these diseases upon you, which I have brought (or allowed) upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.”

The LORD had made a covenant with Abraham many years earlier, and God stands by His Covenant no matter what comes! He said in Psalm 89:34 “My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of My lips.” The Apostle Paul informs us how Jesus has obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much more also He is the Mediator of Better Covenant, which was established upon Better Promises (Hebrews 8:6).

Even though the Children of Israel had what I would call a pretty good covenant, Paul says that you and I under the New Covenant, based upon what the Lord Jesus Christ did for us, has given to us a “Better Covenant, established upon Better Promises.” One of the benefits found in that Old Covenant was Divine Healing and Health. Well, to those of us who will believe God’s Word and act upon it, Divine Healing and Health is also found in the New Covenant which has been given to us.

In Psalm 103:1-3, The Psalmist David said, “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits. Who forgives all your iniquities, Who healeth all your diseases.”

I know there are a lot of Christians today who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior from going to Hell, but they have never made Him the Healer of their physical body. Over the years, one thing I have never understood is how they can trust Him with something so precious as their “Eternity,” but they refuse to trust Him with the healing they so desperately in their physical bodies. Oh, they say they believe the Lord can heal them, He has the power to do so, but they are not convinced that He wants to heal them!

During the Ministry of Jesus, we never find Jesus ever turning anyone away who needed healing. As a matter of fact, Jesus wanted to heal everyone, but not everyone was always willing to receive their healing.

In Matthew 4:23, we see Jesus doing the things that so many people need Him to do today. All they simply need to do is run to Him and not run from Him. “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.”

I believe the Lord can use this time we are facing right now to reach out to those in need of healing. I believe this Coronavirus is an attack of the enemy to keep God’s people locked up in their homes, away from Church and above all, to keep us silenced, but that is not God’s plan for us. There is a lost and dying world out there that you and I need to reach with the “Good News” of Jesus Christ, and “Good News” to a sick person is that they don’t have to be sick any longer.

Since you and I are in the category of “Disciples” This same verse also applies to us in Matthew 10:1, “And when He had called unto Him His twelve disciples, He gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.”

Personally, I do not know anyone who has contracted the Coronavirus, neither do I personally know anyone who has died from the Coronavirus. But that does not mean that there is no one out there who does not need our prayers and help.

Carla and I want you to know that we are praying for you daily. Just like you, we are ready to get back to having our regular Church Services, but until we do, we want to encourage you to keep standing on God’s Word. Remember, we have a “Better Covenant established upon “Better Promises” all because of Jesus! As always, I want to encourage to stay in faith, stay in prayer, stay in the Word; and pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and remember “God loves you; we love you and JESUS IS LORD!”
