October 2021 Word of the Month

October 2021

In Proverbs 18:14 the Bible says, “The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity (illness and sickness); but a wounded spirit who can bear?”  The area we need to look at is that YOU MUST GUARD YOUR SPIRIT FROM THE ATTACKS OF PEOPLE!

Proverbs 4:20-23 says, “My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health (medicine, health, and healing) to all their flesh. 23 Keep (protect and guard) your heart (spirit) with all diligence; for out of it are the issues *(forces) of life.”

Proverbs 4:20-23 from the Amplified Bible says, “My son, attend to my words; consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing, and health to all their flesh. Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.

When I first went into the ministry, it’s a miracle that I wasn’t destroyed. I didn’t know how to keep my walls of protection up around my heart and mind, nor did I know how to protect my family and myself from church people. I thought, “Here I am in right in the middle of God’s Will for my life, doing what I’m supposed to do. Therefore, everything should be wonderful. Everyone will love my family and me. It’s just so wonderful being in the center of God’s will.”

I didn’t know anything about having my walls of protection up around my heart and mind to protect my spirit, and I took quite a bit of verbal abuse before I learned that everything was not so wonderful. My decision-making power had slipped and wasn’t exercised too well. So, I had to learn to be careful and not let other people try to control me and take over! Jesus had something very interesting to say just before His Crucifixion.

Here in John 19:8-11 as Jesus was being questioned by Pontius Pilate, He makes a profound statement. “When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was more afraid, And went again into the judgment hall, and said unto Jesus, “Where are You from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. Then said Pilate unto Him, “Speak You not unto me? Know You not that I have power to crucify you, and have power to release you?” Jesus answered, “You could have no power at all against Me, except it were given you from above: therefore, he who delivered Me unto you has the greater sin (Judas Iscariot).”

Jesus let Pilate know that he had no power over Him, but the Plan of God was being manifested right before him, and Pilate didn’t even know it. But now let’s see what Jesus told us about the power and authority we have as Believers.

In Luke 10:18-19, Jesus says, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from Heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

We can be ruled by other people if we’re not careful. If your walls of protection are down around your heart and mind, people can march in and take over! Thank God, I eventually learned with the help of the Holy Spirit to stop letting people’s negative words destroy me. I realized not everyone hated me, but there were some who disliked me intensely! It was liberating to realize that some people will like me and encourage me, and some people won’t. Once I learned this, I was prepared to with deal with those who tried to knock me down and knock holes in my walls of protection. Small holes get bigger as time goes on! The problem can start with just a little hole, and if you don’t repair it, it’s going to get bigger and bigger. People who have constant problems with depression, start that cycle with a few little holes. Eventually they quit make decisions to reject those negative thoughts and words.

As faithful Christians, we need to speak God’s Word aloud on an everyday basis! Begin right now and say in out loud, so your very own ears can hear yourself speak!

“I AM THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN CHRIST” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

“THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION TO ME, BECAUSE I AM IN CHRIST JESUS” (Romans 8:1)

“GOD HAS NOT GIVEN ME A SPIRIT OF FEAR, BUT POWER, LOVE AND A SOUND MIND” (1 Timothy 1:7)

“I AM ACCEPTED, NOT REJECTED, I AM ACCEPTED IN HIM” (Ephesians 1:6)

“I AM SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE I OBEY GOD’S WORD” (Joshua 1:8)

As always, I want to encourage you to be careful what you listen to, pray in Holy Spirit, stay in faith, stay in the Word, keep speaking the right things and making the right confessions of faith, pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and remember “God loves you; we love you and JESUS IS LORD!”
