In Matthew 24, Jesus is speaking with His disciples about the times of the end. In verse 35 Jesus makes a very profound statement, He says, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away.” We as believers must come to the realization that the Word of God will never pass away and God’s Word will come to pass regardless of what people may say or think and regardless of how some people may being praying against God’s Word and His Will coming to pass, thinking they are praying in faith. The truth is this, THE WORD OF GOD WILL COME PASS!

The Apostle Peter had something to say about this in Second Peter 3:3-9. “Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, ‘Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.’ For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the Word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” Peter is telling us the reason Jesus is staying His return is because He is still giving this sinful world a chance to repent and come to Him. The ungodly should be thankful for this great compassion from our LORD.

But everything in God’s Word is going to come to pass just as He said it would, we can be assured of it. But as Peter said, the LORD is long suffering or tolerant because He wants as many as possible to become born again and come into His Kingdom. But just because He is tolerant doesn’t mean that His Word is not true, neither will it come to pass, believe me God’s Word will come pass. Why, might you ask? The Psalmist David had something to say as well in the 119th Psalm.

David said, “Forever, O LORD, Your Word is settled in Heaven.” In modern terms we could say it this way, “You can take it to the bank!” Regardless of what the news media says, or what doubt peddlers and unbelievers might say, GOD’S WORD WILL COME PASS! The key to our success is being patient.

Mr. Eugene Peterson, who is the author of the Message Translation of the Bible words it this way in James 5:1-8, “And a final word to you arrogant rich: Take some lessons in lament. You’ll need buckets for the tears when the crash comes upon you. Your money is corrupt and your fine clothes stink. Your greedy luxuries are a cancer in your gut, destroying your life from within. You thought you were piling up wealth. What you’ve piled up is judgment.  All the workers you’ve exploited and cheated cry out for judgment. The groans of the workers you used and abused are a roar in the ears of the Master Avenger. You’ve looted the earth and lived it up. But all you’ll have to show for it is a fatter than usual corpse. In fact, what you’ve done is condemn and murder perfectly good persons, who stand there and take it. Meanwhile, friends, wait patiently for the Master’s Arrival. You see farmers do this all the time, waiting for their valuable crops to mature, patiently letting the rain do its slow but sure work. Be patient like that. Stay steady and strong and be ready. The Master could arrive at any time.”

I want to encourage you to do what James said. Don’t become weary in your well doing, don’t get discouraged in thinking that Jesus is never coming, but GOD’S WORD WILL COME PASS, we have His promise on it. I also want to encourage to stay in faith, stay in prayer, stay in the Word every day, make you daily confession, pray in the spirit for our nation, our leaders, and all who are in authority, pray for the peace of Jerusalem; and remember “God loves you; we love you and JESUS IS LORD!”
