June 2025
In Matthew 12:34, Jesus says some very profound things to us, He says, “O generation of vipers, how can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart [spirit] the mouth speaks.” Remember, your heart is your spirit. You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a physical body. We have the ability to contact three worlds at the same time. Here is this verse, Jesus is not referring to the blood pump, but the center or core of man. If the mouth is not speaking, then there must not be anything in the heart. So then, you can measure or gauge a man’s spirit by what comes out of his or her mouth. People can fool you with their actions, but sooner or later your mouth will give you away.
He goes on in verses 35-37 “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart [spirit] brings forth good things and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by your words you shalt be justified, and by your words you shall be condemned.” So we see very clearly here that the words we speak are very important. Idle words are words that are dead, empty, vain, useless, and non-productive.
As I’m writing to you this month, I want to give you three things to do in what I call, “The Threefold Secret of Confession. There are three key ingredients that will help Believer to keep their confession in line with God’s Word, that will bring a positive outcome to anyone who dare discipline themselves with these secrets.
- WE MUST LEARN TO GUARD OUR MOUTH AND OUR MIND
In Psalm 141:3 David says, “Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.” David is talking about guarding his mouth. Now God will put the ball back in your court. David didn’t want to say anything that would hang him up. Your mouth is hooked to your head. When your head is messed up, then your mouth will mess up. When you speak or say anything contrary to God’s Word, there is nothing He can do for you. You control your destiny and future and you environment with your words. You are the Prophet of your future by the words you speak! So ask the Lord to help you, and set a watch over your mouth, and keep the door of your lips.
- NEVER SPEAK DOUBT OR ANYTHING OF A NEGATIVE NATURE
This has to do with what you believe in your heart and say with your mouth! If you’re not careful, it will short-circuit and cut off your faith. Even admitting doubt in a small way will paralyze your faith. And will have the effect in your life of withholding from you God’s best and God’s blessings. Doubt comes to all of us, and Satan will never stop attacking you when it comes to getting you to speak doubt and negativity. Remember, Doubt confessed is doubt possessed. The whole purpose of doubt is to you to question the validity and of the Word of God. Now what do you do with the doubt? You have to learn to ignore it!
In James 1:5-8 he says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all men liberally, and upbraids [scolds] not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he who wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord. A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Waver means to be up and down, or never consistent. The truth here is that if you’re up and down; you won’t receive anything from God. “Why does my wavering keep me from getting what I want from God, you ask? Is it that God withholds it from me because I am wavering?” No! God is not withholding anything from you. There is really only one person who can keep God’s blessings from you and that’s YOU!
- LEARN TO HARMONIZE YOUR CONFESSION WITH GOD’S WORD.
In others words I need to find out what the Word says about me and bring my confession into line with His Word. I can’t be in opposition with what God says. Harmonize means to be in agreement with. The reason people, even well-meaning Christians make negative confessions is because they don’t know what God says in His Word. It may sound Biblical, but it’s not! God deals with us on the basis of our confession. The word “confession” is the Greek word “homologeo” which means to agree with, to say or speak the same thing. Whatever words I use is what I give God power to bring to pass in my life.
2 Timothy 2:15-16 says, “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman who needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth. But shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”
When you say, “if it be Thy will,” you are admitting you don’t know what the will of God is. And when you say that, then you are saying that you don’t know what God’s Word says. Well Pastor how can I know the will of God? You may ask. By reading and studying the Word! God’s will is revealed in His Word! “Well Pastor you can’t really understand the Bible.” And you never will as long as you never open it. “Why do I need a Bible if I can’t understand it?” That’s simply an excuse. You can’t pray a prayer asking, “if it be Thy will.” Too many Christians get caught up into non-sensical religious sayings, and all that will do is get you into more trouble. Find out what the will of God is for your life and begin to speak it forth in boldness and in power!
Stay in the Word of God every day. This is the only thing that will keep the Believer in the days we are living in. Keep INCREASE ON YOUR MIND and continue speaking the right things and making the right confessions of faith. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; and remember “God loves you; we love you and JESUS IS LORD!”
